The Second Sunday of Advent
Sunday, December 4th
Today is the second Sunday of Advent, so the Bethlehem Candle, the candle of Preparation, along with the Prophecy Candle have been lit. The Bethlehem Candle symbolizes Christ’s coming as a baby. God coming to earth. Much preparation was involved: by God, by the angels, by the Magi, and by Mary and Joseph. God came, and was born in a stable.
‘But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor gives birth and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites.’ - Micah 5:2-3
