Donate to Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." — James 1:27 To that end Countryside is working alongside other Calvary Chapels all over the world to assist the thirteen Calvary Chapels and their congregations, in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Our hearts and our prayers go out to the churches in that area. A CC pastor and number of families have already lost their homes. Though we would love to go down there and help in some way, we need to let the government secure the inner-structures and then our job will be to come behind them to clean up and rebuild. Calvary Chapel Stone Mountain in Georgia will be working with the CC pastors along the Gulf Coast in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama as they seek to minister to the needs of their members and the people in their areas. They will be helping to assess needs, allocate funds, and coordinate work teams. You are welcome to participate with the brothers and sisters of Countryside Christian Fellowship, and other Calvary Chapels around the world to minister as you see fit. Your donation will go to help the disaster relief effort being coordinated through Calvary Chapel. May the Lord bless you as you freely give that which you have freely received.

In the Face of Accusation

When Potiphar’s wife rose up against righteous Joseph and charged him with ungodly behvaior, Joe was patient for two years in the face of accusation. (Genesis 39) When King Saul rose up against David, blaming him for all matter of crimes, David kept praying in the face of that accusation. (Psalm 35, 35:11, 35:20) When Herod and the Pharisees rose up against Jesus indicting him as evil, Jesus remained humble in the face of those accusations. (Luke 23:1-12) To you and to me, in the face of accusation, Jesus might well say: “be joyful!” “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” (Matthew 5:11) Accusations are persecution, and they can actually benefit us. So, if you act Christ-like and people are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are blessed, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Be blessed anyway. If you are honest and candid, people may cheat and take advantage of you; Be honest and candid anyway. What you spend years building, your reputation, your character, your life, someone could come and try to destroy it; Build anyway. If you find peace and contentment in Jesus, some will be jealous; Be happy and at peace anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, Jesus, and to them it may never be enough; Give the world Jesus anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and the Lord. It never was between you and them anyway. So, be patient, keep praying, remain humble, and express the joy you have in the Lord! How great is our hope and even our trial when we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) — Pastor Terry

How do you deal with your PROBLEMS?

Tell God all that is in your heart, as one unloads one’s heart, its pleasures and its pains, to a dear friend. Tell Him your troubles, that He may comfort you; tell Him your longings, that He may purify them; tell Him your dislikes, that He may help you conquer them; talk to Him of your temptations, that He may shield you from them; show Him the wounds of your heart, that He may heal them; lay bare your indifference to good, your depraved tastes for evil, your instability. Tell Him how self-love makes you unjust to others, how vanity tempts you to be insincere, how pride disguises you to yourself and to others. If you thus pour out all your weaknesses, needs, troubles, there will be no lack of what to say. You will never exhaust the subject. It is continually being renewed. People who have no secrets from each other never want subjects of conversation. They do not weigh their words, for there is nothing to be held back; neither do they seek for something to say. They talk out of the abundance of the heart, without consideration, just what they think. Blessed are they who attain to such familiar, unreserved intercourse with God! — Francios Fenelon After this last Sunday's study from Mark 5:24-32, Fenelon's words seem all the more powerful. Where problems have flourished, may the power of Jesus Christ enable you to tell Him all that is in your heart. — Pastor Terry

www.countrysideprayer.com

A special Announcement from Pastor Terry: Countryside Fellowship has just opened the door on a new prayer ministry, and a new part of our website -- www.countrysideprayer.com. Our hope is that you will be blessed by this site and encouraged to new heights and depths of walking with the Lord in prayer because of it. It's also our hope that you will experience the great joy that comes from ministering to others through prayer. The website, and the Countryside Prayer Blog have been set up to encourage your prayer walk with the Lord in a number of ways. You will find here a listing of some of what you can expect to find on these sites; however there is still more to come. Here is a brief overview of what you will see: On the Countryside Prayer Blog:

  • Announcements of upcoming prayer events or group prayer gaterings
  • Devotional readings
  • Prayer requests relating to the Body (i.e. mission trips, youth events)
  • Regularly featured ministries in the Body with current needs and/or praises to remember in prayer
  • Encouraging Scriptures
  • Highlighted opportunities of regular, ongoing prayer ministries (i.e. weekly prayer fellowship)
On the prayer site within www.countrysidefellowship.com:

And, of course, you're invited to involve yourself in the weekly Believer's Prayer Service, Friday nights at 7:00 in Encouraging Words.
